Ombudsman's Office Reports Interview with Brutally Beaten Artsakh Resident
On August 1, lawyer Roman Yeritsyan reported to the Human Rights Defender's hotline that police officers had used violence against his brother, Aram Yeritsyan, and arrested him, taking him to the Arabkir police station.
The Ombudsman's Office has announced that, at the Defender's instruction, a rapid response team was dispatched to the aforementioned station, where an interview with Aram Yeritsyan took place. During the interview, he detailed the circumstances of the incident. The Defender's representatives also documented the bodily injuries he sustained.
During the visit, it was noted that an emergency medical assistance team had been called in to provide help to Aram Yeritsyan.
The results of the visit were summarized, and at the instruction of the Defender, a procedure was initiated to discuss the issue. The Human Rights Defender considers it essential for the circumstances of the case to be subjected to investigation in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code, and will address this requirement to the relevant state authorities.
