Demand for Clarification on Declarations from Former Head of Urban Development Committee

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that former head of the Urban Development Committee, Armen Ghulyan, has found himself the target of the Anti-Corruption Commission as 2024 begins with an unpleasant surprise.

On December 19, "Zhoghovurd" covered Armen Ghulyan's declarations and conducted a comprehensive analysis, clearly highlighting potential corruption risks in Ghulyan's financial resources. Almost two weeks after that publication, Ghulyan was scandalously dismissed from his position by order of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

It is noteworthy that during a visit to newly constructed schools in the Armavir and Lori regions, Pashinyan noted that the construction of these schools was done improperly and raised suspicions. For example, a shower that costs 200 drams was sold for 75,000 drams. It seems that no one was punished for this abuse, except for Ghulyan.

The Anti-Corruption Commission has conducted an analysis of the annual declarations of Armen Ghulyan and his family members for the years 2021 and 2022. The results were discussed at a meeting of the Commission, and a decision was made to request clarifications regarding apparent discrepancies from Ghulyan and his family members. However, there is still no official information on what clarifications Ghulyan has provided to the Commission.
