Charges Filed Against Truck Driver in Hit-and-Run Incident Leading to Two Deaths

On July 29, a report was received regarding an incident that occurred the same day at approximately 12:50 PM, when a truck driven by a 27-year-old individual struck three pedestrians on Acharyan Street near a stop in the city of Erebuni.

As a result of the incident, a 75-year-old and a 73-year-old couple from Yerevan died on the spot, while their 48-year-old son sought medical assistance.

In connection with the case, the Armenian Investigative Committee's Traffic Crimes Investigation Department has initiated criminal proceedings under Article 342, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code. An examination of the scene has been conducted, witnesses have been interviewed, and forensic examinations have been ordered.

Based on the evidence gathered, charges have been filed against the 27-year-old truck driver under Article 342, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code. He has been placed under house arrest, with a bail condition set at 1 million drams and a prohibition on leaving the country.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. The condition of the injured 48-year-old victim at the medical center is reported to be stable.
