Tragic Accident and Brawl: Four Cars Collide, One Dead and Injured, Attack on Patrol Officers

On July 27, a fatal car accident followed by a brawl occurred in Yerevan. Around 22:30, four vehicles collided outside the "Fast Bank" located at 123 Sebastia Street. The vehicles involved were a "VAZ 2107" driven by 43-year-old Hambartsum Melikyan from Russia, a "Mercedes ML" driven by 31-year-old Edgar Mheryan from Yerevan, a "Toyota" driven by 37-year-old Gurgen Davtyan from Ararat Province, and a "Nissan March" driven by 22-year-old Narek Petrosyan from Yerevan.

According to shamshyan.com, a photojournalist at the scene reported that Mheryan and Petrosyan were transferred to "Astghik" medical center with bodily injuries. The first responders were citizens and an emergency medical team who provided first aid before the injured were taken to the hospital.

While the investigative team was working at the scene, a report was received from the hospital that one of the injured, Narek Petrosyan, had died today, July 28.

A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department regarding the incident. By the investigator's directive, the vehicles have been transferred to the special area of the Police Department of Yerevan city.

According to site sources, Gurgen Davtyan works at "DEFANS HOUSING" LLC and before the arrival of investigators, a group of individuals arrived at the scene, displayed disrespect towards the public, and attacked the working patrol officers, causing injuries to several officers and continuing their behavior for a considerable time. After the arrival of additional forces from the Malatia Division of the police, these individuals were apprehended and taken to the police division, where separate documents were processed, which were then forwarded to the Malatia Investigation Division of the RA Investigative Committee.

It has been reported that among those detained is a representative from the sports community.
