Putin Warned Germany About the Consequences of U.S. Weapons Deployment
Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in a parade dedicated to the Day of the Navy. The event is traditionally held in Saint Petersburg. A total of over 2,500 servicemen took part in the parade. On the occasion of the holiday, the President congratulated the crews of naval vessels, as well as welcomed the crews of ships from China, Algeria, and India.
During the main naval parade, President Vladimir Putin stated, "If the U.S. deploys its weapons on German territory, Russia will consider itself free from its self-imposed moratorium on the deployment of its own weapons. In such a scenario, American missiles in Germany could reach critical Russian facilities within 10 minutes." He added, "Should the U.S. move forward with such plans, we will consider ourselves free from the unilateral moratorium we previously undertook on the deployment of intermediate and shorter-range strike systems, including the enhancement of our naval coastal forces capabilities."
This statement came as the state leader commented on the joint announcement by the U.S. administration and the German government. The two nations plan to deploy American long-range precision missile systems in Germany starting in 2026.
