Erdogan Demands Apology from Palestinian Leader
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has demanded an apology from Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas for refusing to address the Turkish parliament. His remarks were cited by the Turkiye newspaper.
“Let Mr. Abbas not take offense, but he must apologize, as we invited him, and he did not come,” the state leader stated. He emphasized that the Turkish side was looking forward to this visit. Erdogan asserted that there is no excuse for such inconsistency if there is even a drop of humanity in one’s heart.
He noted that at the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is applauded in the U.S. Congress despite being “a maniac like Hitler.” On July 24, Netanyahu, in a message directed to the U.S. Congress, warned that attempts to disrupt Israel’s exercise of its right to self-defense would have serious consequences for the U.S. and other Western countries.
