Raw Meat Served to Athletes in Olympic Village
Athletes from Team Great Britain have raised concerns over food shortages and the quality of meals at the Olympic Village in Paris, as reported by The Times, citing Andy Anson, the head of the British Olympic Association.
"There is a shortage of certain food items, including eggs, chicken, and specific carbohydrates. Moreover, the quality of food is crucial, as athletes are being served raw meat," Anson stated.
The head of the British Association noted that the athletes have decided to eat at the national team's base located in Clichy-la-Garenne, prompting the organization to hire an additional chef due to high demand for meals.
Anson added that athletes are not only dining in Clichy but are also taking meals with them for dinner, as they prefer not to eat in the athletes' restaurant. "For that reason, we are trying to ensure that our athletes have access to more food. This is currently the biggest issue," he concluded.
L'Equipe reported on July 25 that athletes expressed dissatisfaction with the insufficient food supply and the slow replenishment of certain food items at the main restaurant of the Olympic Village. Carrefour, responsible for supplying 600 tons of fresh food to athletes during the Games, announced that it would review its supply plans to increase food availability.
The Olympics in Paris are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
