Iranian Ambassador Addresses Reports of Military Agreement Between Tehran and Yerevan

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia has denied reports regarding a military agreement between Iran and Armenia. According to the Mehr news agency, Mehdi Sobhani dismissed the sources spreading such news as unreliable media that have a "rich experience" in publishing false information and making biased analyses about the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Sobhani stated that the aim of publishing such news is to influence the development of friendly relations between Iran and countries in the region. The ambassador emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the establishment of peace and stability in the Caucasus region, as well as economic development.

It is noteworthy that the Armenian Ministry of Defense had previously characterized the circulating news about Armenia signing a $500 million arms procurement agreement with Iran as "imaginary" and "fabricated." On this matter, Auroranews contacted the spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Aram Torosyan. When asked how they would comment on the information disseminated by Iran International about a secret agreement between Armenia and Iran for the procurement of arms worth $500 million, the spokesperson responded that they do not react to publications containing imaginary and fabricated content.
