Three Months After Samvel Vardanyan's Torture, No One Has Been Held Accountable: "Jhoghovurd"
Three months have passed since the horrific torture of young Samvel Vardanyan, and no one has been held accountable. This was reported by the newspaper "Jhoghovurd."
"It remains unknown who or what group of people degraded and tortured the young man in front of the police officers. As reported, on April 15, while on public transport, Samvel Vardanyan targeted MP Hakob Aslanyan from the ruling Civil Contract party, calling him 'a bastard' and 'a traitor.' Following the incident, he was arrested, and during his transfer to the investigative detention center, he was beaten, tortured, and subjected to sexual humiliation by a masked gang. As of now, investigations on the two charges against Samvel Vardanyan—'hooliganism' and 'inciting hostility based on political views'—have concluded, and the case is in court. However, nothing has been done regarding the case of his torture. It remains unclear who the accompanying police officers were, the members of the masked gang, and what punishment awaits them.
It should be noted that during the transfer from the investigative service to the detention facility, individuals dressed entirely in black and wearing masks removed Samvel Vardanyan from the vehicle, took him a few meters away into the grass, forced him to kneel, and hit his head against the ground (apparently, the swelling on his forehead was a result of this incident). They began hitting him with their hands while accompanying the entire process with sexual insults. Furthermore, they demanded that Samvel repeat the sexual insults directed at him, and then they collectively spat on him.
Afterwards, still in a kneeling position, with his hands handcuffed behind his back, they pulled down his trousers and demonstratively held a stick or 'rubber baton' between his legs, apparently intending to show something, threaten, or instill fear. This act, perhaps under the high patronage of Nikol Pashinyan, remains unsolved, and the perpetrators continue to go unpunished," states the website.
