"We Must Wait for Concrete Actions": Peskov
Statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the possibility of negotiations with Moscow are better than a complete rejection of such talks, but we must wait for concrete steps. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, as reported by TASS.
"Overall, this is certainly better than statements that any contact with the Russian side is excluded," noted the Kremlin representative. He emphasized that discussions about dialogue in any tone are preferable to the intentions of "continuing the war to the last Ukrainian."
“But what exactly lies behind [Zelensky's statements about the possibility of negotiations], what specific plans and actions are implied, is currently difficult to judge. We must wait for concrete actions, if they follow,” he added.
Earlier, in an interview with the BBC, Zelensky stated that negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin was a possibility, despite an existing decree in Ukraine prohibiting such negotiations. On July 15, Zelensky also mentioned that representatives of Russia should participate in the second conference on conflict resolution.
