Shooting in Yerevan: The Injured is a Former Champion of Armenian Weightlifting
Today, on July 20, gunfire was reported in Yerevan. Around 3:30 PM, operational information was received by the Arabkir division of the Armenian Police regarding shots fired in the yard of 23 Aram Khachaturyan Street, with a report of an injured individual.
According to Shamshyan.com, before the police and patrol officers arrived at the scene, the Izmirlian Medical Center notified the Arabkir police station that a person had been brought in with gunshot wounds.
Officers from the criminal investigation and juvenile affairs departments who arrived at the hospital confirmed that the injured party is 38-year-old Vardan Davtyan, a resident of Yerevan.
Not far from the scene, police and patrol officers discovered a Honda vehicle, with blood-like traces found in the driver's seat, and bullet marks present in the interior of the car.
The information about the incident has been forwarded from the Arabkir police station to the investigation department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, where an investigative team arrived, headed by the department chief and the on-duty investigator.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Arabkir investigative department on the grounds of attempted murder. The police and the investigative department are undertaking necessary operational-search and investigative joint actions to clarify the circumstances of the incident, identify the shooter, and locate him along with the weapon used in the crime.
Several citizens gathered at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, mentioned that the injured individual is a former champion of Armenian weightlifting.
