Tragic Accident in Shirak Province: BMW X3 and Honda Fit Collide, Resulting in 3 Deaths Including a Child
Today, on July 26th, a tragic car accident occurred in Shirak Province. Around 1:30 AM, on the 15 km section of the Gyumri-Vanadzor highway, at the Jajur bends, a collision took place between a BMW X3 driven by 41-year-old Armen Tonoyan, a resident of Shirak Province, and a Honda Fit driven by 31-year-old Napoleon Mkrtchyan, a resident of Lori Province.
As a result of the accident, N. Mkrtchyan and his passenger, 31-year-old Nazeni Shmoyan, died at the scene. A third individual, 7-year-old Davit M. from Lori Province, was transported in critical condition to Gyumri's "Mother and Child Austrian" hospital, where he sadly succumbed without regaining consciousness.
According to reports by shamshyan.com, witnesses noted that the deceased were a married couple, and the child was their son. It has also been reported that the driver of the BMW X3 exhibited strange behavior at the accident site, which was also observed by police officers. They attempted to transfer him to the Akhuryan police station, but he claimed to feel unwell and was subsequently escorted to an ambulance.
Doctors attempted to transport him to the hospital; however, en route, he opened the ambulance door and fled. According to sources, another person was with the driver of the BMW X3, who was arrested on suspicion of possessing and using drugs by the officers of the Akhuryan police station.
The Shirak regional department of the patrol service and the Akhuryan police have operational information suggesting that there were drugs inside the BMW X3. Preliminary information indicates that the cause of the accident was the driver of the BMW X3, who veered into the opposite lane, creating a hazardous situation and subsequently colliding with the Honda Fit. The BMW X3 ended up partially in the middle of the road, while the Honda Fit flipped over.
