Former MP Shot Dead in Lviv
Irina Faryon, a former member of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, has been shot in Lviv, according to city council member Igor Zinkevich. He stated that the former MP is in serious condition.
Zinkevich noted that the shooter was reportedly wearing gloves, and the weapon was not seized. Faryon is 60 years old.
In May, the court reinstated her as a professor in the Ukrainian language department at Lviv Polytechnic University after she was dismissed due to controversial statements she made. She had declared that Russian-speaking soldiers in the Ukrainian armed forces were not considered Ukrainians.
Subsequently, Faryon also published a letter from a student in Crimea on her Telegram channel, revealing the student's personal information, which led to her being detained by Russian police. Following this incident, students at the polytechnic demanded her dismissal.
