Why the Son of a Criminal Authority Launched an Attack Against a Member of the Sevan Council: What Triggered the Shots?
On July 17, gunshots, murder, and attempted murder occurred in the Gegharkunik province. Gunfire erupted in the "Best Western Bohemian Resort" in the administrative area of Sevan on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, resulting in the death of a council member.
What was the reason behind the shooting? ArmLur.am has learned that the individual killed was Arsen Afiyan, a member of the Sevan Council from the "Sarkis Muradyan" alliance.
According to the preliminary investigation body, measures taken led to the detention of two individuals, a 19-year-old resident of Gegharkunik province and a 40-year-old resident of Tavush province, on grounds of reasonable suspicion for inflicting gunshot injuries.
The 19-year-old detainee is Levon Banduryan, the son of criminal authority Ara Banduryan. Weapons were found in his hotel room, and he was accompanied by another individual, a friend, at the hotel.
Levon Banduryan and the 40-year-old man were reportedly relaxing with a group of individuals at the hotel complex near the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway, where they had a confrontation with a 37-year-old resident of Sevan, a 42-year-old man from Abovyan, and a 36-year-old woman from Yerevan.
The dispute escalated into a fight, during which random gunshots were fired, resulting in gunshot wounds to the 37-year-old man from Sevan, the 41-year-old man from Abovyan, and a 56-year-old security employee of the hotel complex.
What was the core reason for the argument? According to preliminary information received by the media, the murdered council member Arsen Afiyan spoke loudly in the hotel, and he was reprimanded by the son of the criminal authority, which led to a heated exchange and the subsequent gunfire.
