At Least 3-4 Times a Week, I Say I Should Resign: The Confession of the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council

Armlur.am reports that during an interview with Public Television, the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Karen Andreasian, stated, "I say at least 3-4 times a week, I should resign, I should leave." In response to the question regarding why people are neither convicted nor held accountable due to amnesties or the expiration of statute limitations, Andreasian mentioned that they are gradually addressing the entire system's issues.

“Every interview and every aggression leads to demoralization because both I and the judges, those who want justice in this country, are under national pressure. I say at least 3-4 times a week that I should resign and leave because it’s so appealing to sit in this chair, or in that chair, which is much better paid and would provide me a much more comfortable life, and just complain about the systems. But why do we stay in these systems? It's not just me; hundreds of people do as well, because investigators, prosecutors, operational bodies, judges, a lot of people still believe and fight. Some have done everything to fail; some are still fighting. Now, to whom are you giving power with these provocations? I’m asking the people, who are you complaining about? Did I promise you that everyone should be seated? No, I made no such promise when I came to the Supreme Judicial Council; did judges and investigators promise? No. Today, when an opposition figure is not imprisoned, that is also the restoration of justice; when a governmental figure is imprisoned, that is also the restoration of justice,” he stated.
