Zhanna Andreasian Addresses Demoyan's Accusations
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport is attempting to understand what has happened at the "Armenian Theater Company" library and how its archive has been destroyed. This was stated by Minister Zhanna Andreasian during a press conference while commenting on the accusations made by the former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Hayk Demoyan.
Last year, Demoyan had announced that the rich archive of the "Armenian Theater Company" library had been destroyed, and that Andreasian had remained silent on this fact. He made another statement yesterday, suggesting that the government should clarify the circumstances under which the rich library and photographic archive of the "Armenian Theater Company" was destroyed.
"I have no information; we will try to understand what is happening. In any case, the ministry is ready to assist in the preservation and development of library funds. I do not know specifically what incident has occurred, or by which organization or company. Of course, we will follow up to understand the issue, and if there is any matter within the jurisdiction of the ministry, we will address it," said Andreasian.
According to her, during one of the sessions of the National Assembly, the ministry presented a legislative initiative that envisions new opportunities for the further development of libraries. Andreasian assured that if the issue is under the ministry's supervision, they will work on its resolution.
