Azerbaijani Border Guards Are Now in the Territory of Kirants
Azerbaijani border guards are now present in the Kirants community of the Tavush region. This was reported by Karen Ghazaryan, a resident of Archakut, on his Facebook page.
"The enemy's troops are already inside Kirants, and their sounds can be heard from the bypass road of Archakut," Ghazaryan wrote.
In conversations with Sputnik Armenia, local residents informed that Azerbaijani border guards are now near the bridge area, just a few steps away from the newly constructed school. Residents expressed their concerns, saying, "The biggest issue is related to the school; people can't imagine how they will send their children to school."
According to them, since the Azerbaijani forces entered the village yesterday, they have been moving cautiously and “in a single line,” perhaps worried about the possibility of landmines present.
It should be noted that the commissions on border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to begin the demarcation process in the Tavush region on April 19. The Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia announced that Azerbaijan will receive 2.5 villages as a result of this process, while the Republic of Armenia will gain a reduction in security risks. After demarcation, armed forces will withdraw from the area of four villages and hand over their positions to border troops.
On May 24, the National Security Service of Armenia announced that the border troops were officially taking over the protection of the state border of the Republic of Armenia in the Tavush region, specifically the areas of Berkaberd for 1.9 km, and Voskepar and Baghanis for 4.9 km.
