Mirzoyan Reports on Budget Allocations for Artsakh Residents at the UN

More than 160 million USD has already been spent from the Armenian state budget to meet the needs of our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, during the high-level political forum on sustainable development at the UN in New York.

“This money has been allocated for providing housing, food, and other essential needs through direct financial assistance and similar mechanisms,” said the minister.

The head of Armenia’s foreign policy department briefly outlined the actions taken by Azerbaijan from 2020 to 2023 against the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, including war, blockade, and ethnic cleansing, which resulted in the forcible displacement of over 115,000 ethnic residents of Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.

The minister presented the efforts of the Armenian government in various directions to alleviate the issues faced by the Artsakh residents and to meet their needs. He also discussed the ongoing long-term housing support program, adding that specific initiatives are being implemented to ensure the employment of refugees.
