A Villager Rescued a Child's Head from a Dog's Mouth, Says Administrative Leader
According to Aravot.am, "We reported that yesterday in the village of Voskhehask in the Shirak region, a dog attacked five people, all of whom were taken to the Gyumri Medical Center with various injuries. The most serious case was that of a 5-year-old child, who was later transferred to the capital's 'Wigmore Hospital for Women and Children'.
The administrative head of Voskhehask, Mushegh Sahakyan, provided some details about the incident in a conversation with Aravot.am. He explained that the child had gone with his mother to visit a relative, and they passed by a stream in a fairly deserted area, where there was little traffic and mostly livestock keepers. The dog, according to the administrative leader, attacked them, injuring both the mother and the child; it had taken hold of the 5-year-old boy's head in its mouth, and the villagers, seeing the situation, rushed to help. The dog also bit them.
"We do not know where that dog came from near the stream, whether it has an owner or not, perhaps it was hungry and came to bite. The dog took the child's head in its mouth. A fellow villager tried to scare the dog away with a branch to save the child, but seeing that there was no chance, he put his hands in the dog's mouth and managed to free the child. The dog also bit his hands. I was very worried about the child; I spoke with the mother a little while ago, and she said the surgery went well; it was the child's jaw that was broken and his nose injured. The community is ready to help in any way; we stand by them, all we hope is for the child to recover," said the administrative leader.
