VIDEO: Shooter Recorded His Hatred Towards Trump Before Assassination Attempt
The assassination attempt against former U.S. President Donald Trump was carried out by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, according to the FBI. The suspect was killed after firing at least 9 bullets. Just before the shooting, he recorded a video in which he expressed his hatred towards the Republicans and specifically Trump.
“And you know what? You’ve messed with the wrong person,” Crooks concluded in the video.
The shooting occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crooks positioned himself on the roof of one of the buildings, approximately 130 meters away, which the FBI noted was outside the Secret Service's security perimeter. Witnesses claim several individuals alerted security personnel to the suspicious man armed with a semi-automatic rifle, but the bodyguards took no action.
One person was killed in the assassination attempt, and two other spectators sustained serious injuries. Trump himself suffered a wound to his right ear; after receiving assistance, he left the hospital and flew to New Jersey.
