Blinken and Baerbock Discuss Normalization of Relations Between Baku and Yerevan
In Washington, during the NATO summit, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. According to the State Department, Blinken and Baerbock discussed the progress made towards signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of concluding the deal as soon as possible.
The parties also discussed support for Ukraine, ensuring a ceasefire in Gaza, and challenges posed by China, including its support for Russia's military-industrial base. Since the onset of the war in Ukraine, China has never condemned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and has not voted in favor of UN General Assembly resolutions, instead repeatedly blaming the United States and the West for "instigating conflict." The Kremlin has consistently emphasized that today, Moscow's number one strategic partner is Beijing.
