Voter Turnout in French Parliamentary Elections Reaches Record High
Today marks the first round of parliamentary elections in France, an opportunity to make history as far-right parties are poised to form a government for the first time. Following a significant victory in the European elections, Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella's National Rally have gained considerable ground over President Emmanuel Macron's party.
The voter turnout has reached a record high, with a participation rate of 25.9% reported by noon. The elections are being held in two rounds, and the fate of most of the 577 seats in the National Assembly will likely be decided next Sunday in the second round.
