Switzerland Extends Sanctions Against Russia
On July 8, the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) expanded the list of sanctions against Russia. This was reported on Tuesday on the official website of the Swiss government, as noted by European Pravda.
In this way, Switzerland joined the additional sanctions lists adopted by the EU. In response to Russia's ongoing military aggression against Ukraine, the EU implemented new measures against Russia on June 24, as part of the 14th package of sanctions.
In turn, the EAER will impose sanctions on an additional 69 individuals and 86 legal entities under its jurisdiction. The new sanctions primarily target businessmen, propagandists, military personnel, representatives of the judiciary, those responsible for the deportation of Ukrainian children, and employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
Among the new targets of the sanctions are, in particular, companies operating in Russia's defense sector, as well as financial and trade sector companies that are actively involved in circumventing the sanctions.
