Space Scale Scandal: Some Countries Demand That Pashinyan 'Bring Down' Armenian Satellites from Space
The unexpected dismissal of Avet Poghosyan, the Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, seems to have deep-seated roots. According to various reports, before the 2018 revolution, Poghosyan, who worked as a taxi driver in the United States, coordinated the communication and space activities, which apparently have failed.
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" has uncovered some details about how and why Avet Poghosyan was relieved of his duties. According to information received by the newspaper from the government, when the "Hayasat-1" satellite was launched into space from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in the U.S. on a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket, followed by the "Armsat-1," it became problematic for the sector coordinator, Poghosyan.
The issue is that according to various experts, the satellites sent into space have become a scourge on other countries' satellites, disrupting the operations of many countries' satellites or parts of their programs.
As a result, letters have been sent to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from various countries (the newspaper is verifying the list, which will be published later), urging him to bring down the satellite(s) due to the unprofessional and poorly calculated nature of the work, quality, and launch.
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reached out to Avet Poghosyan for clarification on the information. He responded that "I have not been dismissed from my job, especially not for serious reasons. Regarding the 'Hayasat-1' satellite, this is a private initiative that has only a connection with the state and ministry in that it received a license for space activity from the state according to the law. And if you are referring to the 'Armsat-1' satellite belonging to Armenia, it continues to operate as initially planned. Your and any information does not correspond to reality."
Details are available in today’s issue of the newspaper "Zhoghovurd."
