I Have No Place to Speak. This Was Not a Ruling That Was Made. Levon Yeranosyan on His and Vladimir Gasparyan’s Trial
I have no place to speak, said former commander of the Armenian Police Forces and Deputy Police Chief Levon Yeranosyan during a conversation with reporters after the court session.
It should be noted that the court recently found former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan and Levon Yeranosyan guilty, yet did not impose imprisonment, citing the amnesty from 2018 and the statute of limitations.
Yeranosyan stated that they will appeal the court's decision. He also mentioned that he does not recognize himself as guilty: “I cannot say if there was pressure on the judge or not; in any case, this was not a ruling that was made.”
Let us recall that there are four defendants in this criminal case: Vladimir Gasparyan, Levon Yeranosyan, former head of the Internal Audit Department of the Police Vardan Tunyan, and former commander of a military unit of the Police Forces Gurgen Grigoryan. A signature not to leave has been imposed as a measure of restraint against them.
We remind that in July 2023, the RA Anti-Corruption Committee announced that former police chief Vladimir Gasparyan had legalized (laundered) property worth approximately 2 billion drams obtained through criminal means.
