Ukraine Initiates Urgent UN Security Council Meeting Due to Russia's Strikes Today

Ukraine is initiating an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council concerning today's Russian missile strikes on Ukraine, as reported by РБК-Украина.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, "Ukraine is now seeking to convene an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council in connection with the Russian attack on civilian infrastructure, including a children's hospital." He noted that Russia is already spreading false information claiming that the attack on the 'Okhmatdyt' children's hospital was a result of Ukrainian air defense operations, but there is evidence showing that it was directly hit by enemy missiles.

Today, on July 8, around 09:40, the Russian side launched missile strikes on several regions of Ukraine. There are 28 dead and 112 injured.

During the mass missile attack, the Russian Federation fired various types of 38 missiles towards Ukraine, 30 of which were destroyed by Ukraine's air defense.

In particular, the Russians targeted the 'Okhmatdyt' children's hospital in Kyiv, resulting in two fatalities. There may still be people trapped under the rubble.
