Seoul Offers Moscow a Choice Between Two Koreas

The President of South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol, has stated that the deepening military collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang poses a threat to the Korean Peninsula, as well as to European security. Therefore, Russia must choose which of the two Koreas it wishes to develop relations with.

“The military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is an explicit threat and a serious challenge to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in Europe,” he told Reuters.

According to the South Korean president, the future of relations with Russia depends on Moscow's actions in this case. “It entirely depends on Russia which direction it wants to develop relations in that region,” the agency quoted the politician as saying.

He also added that he would discuss cooperation between the two states at a summit with NATO leaders scheduled for July 9-11.
