Possible Candidate for France's Prime Minister Revealed
Former French President François Hollande may take up the position of Prime Minister after the parliamentary elections, where no coalition has a clear majority. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by Evgenia Obitchkina, a professor at MGIMO’s Department of International Relations and External Policy of Russia and a Doctor of Historical Sciences.
“I believe that François Hollande has a good chance in this new legislature,” she emphasized, adding that he is center-left and “capable of making agreements.” According to Obitchkina, in the current political climate in France, it appears that Hollande is “becoming a more visible figure than in recent years.”
Previously, Hollande had stated that he does not aspire to the position of head of the future government. He pointed out that due to the absence of an absolute majority in the lower house of parliament, the key factor will be not the personality of the candidate but the political role that the National Assembly wishes to play. The former president predicted that French authorities may expect “institutional innovations.”
