Massive Protests in Tel Aviv and Haifa Demand Early Elections and Release of Hostages
Thousands of Israelis held protests last night in Tel Aviv, near the headquarters of the Histadrut labor federation, and in the center of Haifa, demanding early elections and the swift release of hostages from Gaza. This was reported by the Ynet portal.
Since the morning of July 7, Israelis have been protesting across the country, calling for the rapid release of hostages held in Gaza and for early elections to be held as part of a nationwide day of protest.
In Haifa, demonstrators blocked traffic and closed off parts of the streets near the labor federation building in Tel Aviv. The protest was coordinated with the police and took place without incidents. Ynet reports that another large protest is planned for the center of Tel Aviv in the evening, in support of negotiations for the release of hostages by radicals, as well as an anti-government demonstration near the Ministry of Defense complex. Concurrently, a massive protest is expected in Jerusalem.
According to the latest reports, there are still 120 people held hostage in Gaza.
