Two Prisoners Swallow Metal Pieces in Vanadzor Penitentiary

According to Shamshyan.com, an emergency incident occurred today, June 24, in the Lori region. At around 08:40, a call was received at the Lori regional police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia from the Vanadzor medical center, stating that a group of emergency doctors had transferred two convicted individuals from the Vanadzor penitentiary to the hospital.

The police determined that the individuals transported to the hospital were 27-year-old Aren Harutyunyan and 28-year-old Artem Ghazaryan, prisoners at the mentioned penitentiary. They had swallowed metal pieces (a bolt and a nut) in protest while in a cell designated for hunger strikers. Their act of protest stemmed from disagreements regarding the charges brought against them.
