Ukraine achieved a hard-fought victory over Slovakia in the Euro 2024 match. In the second round of Euro 2024, the Ukrainian national team defeated the Slovakian team.

The match concluded with a score of 2:1. Slovakia's player Ivan Schranz opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Just 10 minutes after the break, Mykola Shaparenko equalized the score. Roman Yaremchuk then pushed Ukraine ahead 10 minutes before the end of the match.

In the spring of 2022, FIFA (the International Football Federation) and UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations), following the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), decided to exclude the Russian national team, as well as all Russian clubs, from participating in all competitions controlled by these organizations. The Russians missed the playoff matches for the 2022 World Cup and will also miss the upcoming European Championship.
