Hajiyev on France's Arms Sale to Armenia
“The sale of arms to Armenia by France is a blow to the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” stated Hikmet Hajiyev, head of the foreign relations department of the Azerbaijani presidential office, during a press conference in Baku today, as reported by the APA agency.
“France's policy of supplying arms will act as an impetus for the revanchist forces operating in Armenia. The provision of lethal weapons to Armenia raises serious concerns. As a member of the UN Security Council, France should conduct a responsible policy,” Hajiyev noted, adding that “Armenia is the country that has committed aggression and occupation in the South Caucasus. Arming such a state is unacceptable.”
It is noteworthy that Armenia and France announced yesterday that they have signed a contract for the acquisition of Caesar artillery systems.
