Azerbaijan Prepares for Military Escalation: Calls for Macron to Send Troops to Armenia

A group of French political and social figures has signed an open letter calling on President Emmanuel Macron to send a peacekeeping force to Armenia. According to Le Point, signatories include Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, former French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, and other prominent individuals.

The authors of the letter emphasized the importance of ensuring Armenia's security and maintaining its sovereignty. They expressed gratitude to the president for support in defense programs, including arms supplies and training programs for Armenian servicemen.

“Unfortunately, this may not be enough to deter Aliyev's regime from its expansionist and criminal projects. Azerbaijan, benefitting from oil and gas revenues and support from Turkey, is preparing for military escalation, especially after 'successful' ethnic cleansing in Artsakh. This has complicated Armenia's relations with its traditional ally, Russia,” the statement reads.

The authors of the letter propose, “to avoid the worst-case scenario,” demonstrating solidarity alongside Armenia to deter potential aggressors. “We believe that the deployment of the French tricolor in Armenia, exclusively showcasing peaceful intentions, will strengthen our country's inviolability against totalitarian threats,” the letter's authors state.

In conclusion, they state, “We call for French soldiers to be sent to this fraternal country: a peacekeeping force, by demonstrating its presence, should deter those who intend to harm Armenia. Our armed forces are already engaged in peacekeeping missions and humanitarian efforts in numerous countries. We believe that the presence of French military personnel in this country, recognizing their exclusively peaceful mission, can bring hope, solidarity, and freedom, thus strengthening our own immune system against totalitarianism, darkness, and isolation.”
