Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 26-year-old resident of the Noragavit neighborhood. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee, providing details about the midnight murder incident.
On June 13, 2024, at 00:45, a report was received about the discovery of a man's body with gunshot wounds near a supermarket in the Noragavit neighborhood of Yerevan.
Through operational investigative measures, it was determined that the individual with gunshot wounds was M.K., a 26-year-old resident of Noragavit.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Shengavit Investigative Division of the Republic of Armenia's Investigative Committee based on the first part of Article 155 and the first part of Article 335 of the RA Criminal Code.
According to preliminary data, a minor resident of the Noragavit neighborhood, born in 2006, had been reprimanded by M.K. for speeding in a Lada 21114 car belonging to his father. Afterward, the minor reported the incident to his father, who, seeking clarification, contacted M.K. and agreed to meet. The minor's father went to the meeting with a friend.
The meeting took place near the supermarket in the neighborhood, where a dispute arose, during which the minor's father punched M.K. in the face. Subsequently, unidentified individuals fired shots at M.K. from a submachine gun and a pistol, causing injuries incompatible with life.
During the investigation, a crime scene examination uncovered more than two dozen cartridges and bullet casings. An external examination of the victim's body revealed multiple gunshot wounds, and a gas pistol was found in his left hand. Footage from security cameras at the scene was confiscated, examined, and several individuals were interrogated. Various forensic examinations have been appointed to clarify significant circumstances of the criminal case.
As a result of urgent measures taken, three individuals suspected of committing the crime, including the minor's father, were identified and arrested based on the presence of reasonable suspicion of having committed a crime.
A decision has been made to initiate a new criminal proceeding based on point 8 of the second part of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code, which will be combined with the aforementioned criminal case to ensure an objective and comprehensive investigation.
The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being undertaken to clarify the circumstances of the incident, the potential participation of other individuals, and to identify and present them to the prosecuting authority. Relevant instructions have been given to the appropriate division of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs to conduct operational investigative measures.
