Biden Does Not Rule Out Use of U.S. Armed Forces

U.S. President Joe Biden considers the possible involvement of American troops to assist Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion, as stated in an interview with Time magazine.

"I do not rule out the use of U.S. Armed Forces. There are differences between land deployments, air forces, naval forces, and others," he said in response to a question about whether the U.S. could station its soldiers in Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion. At the same time, Biden declined to answer the question of whether the U.S. could use its bases in the Philippines and Japan to strike back.

Beijing views Taiwan as an inseparable part of China, and maintaining the principle of 'one China' is a prerequisite for other countries wishing to establish or maintain diplomatic relations with China. The U.S. also maintains the principle of 'one China' and does not recognize Taiwan's independence, despite having close ties with Taipei in various fields and supplying weapons to the island.
