Five Less Than Demarcation: What is the Situation in Border Village Tigranashen?
MediaHub reports: "Demarcation and delimitation works in Kiran and Voskepar have become a subject of intense discussion in the public sphere. What many feared, and against which the Sacred Movement was initiated, has been completed in Tavush, and Azerbaijanis are already there.
Apparently, among the villages handed over to the enemy outside Tavush, Tigranashen is also included as an enclave. A few months ago, when the delimitation process had not yet started in Tavush, MediaHub spoke with Tigranashen's village chief, Lyudvig Stepanyan, to understand the mood in the village, whether the residents were concerned. However, the village chief responded that people live according to their usual agenda. He even stated that he did not believe such a scenario.
Yesterday, Bishop Bagrat announced that he would soon visit Tigranashen. What is the current situation in Tigranashen? After the events that took place in Kiran, do the people continue to remain calm, or is there panic among the villagers? MediaHub spoke with a resident of Tigranashen, who reaffirmed that the villagers continue with their daily lives.
“The situation in the village is the same, people live with their daily routine and work. There is no news. Why should there be panic? The danger has always existed; it is not new for us,” he said.
According to our interlocutor, there have been no state-level announcements: “We do not rule anything out, of course, regarding what the outcomes of the negotiations will be. However, for the residents of Tigranashen at this moment, all of this is normal; they have heard it so often that it has become a usual thing,” our interlocutor said.
It should be noted that recently, National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan declared that the authorities do not intend to limit themselves only to the Kiran section; they need to address the entire border. However, it is still unclear where the next phase of delimitation with Azerbaijan will take place."
