Does the Cadastre Map Correspond to the Territories of Armenia as per the Alma-Ata Declaration?

Sputnik Armenia reports that the Armenian authorities are uncertain whether the map of the State Committee of the Cadastre of the Republic of Armenia corresponds to the territories of Armenia as specified in the Alma-Ata Declaration.

To clarify the situation, we initially sent an inquiry to the office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who heads the commission on border demarcation with Azerbaijan. We were advised to direct our questions to the State Committee of the Cadastre, but did not receive a response there either.

“Providing information regarding these inquiries is outside the authority of the Cadastre Committee,” was the reply from the committee.

When asked on what maps the electronic Cadastre map was based, particularly for border areas, it was noted that, at the initiative of the government, cadastral mapping work was conducted in Armenia between 1998 and 2005.

“The mentioned works were carried out through legal entities and individuals with appropriate qualifications (license). The starting materials for cadastral mapping were graphical and textual legal documents regarding immovable property, various maps, land development and urban planning documentation, master plans, and collections of geodetic base coordinates,” the response stated.

As for the Cadastre committee's electronic map, it is emphasized that it serves as the mapping module for the electronic services provided by the Cadastre Committee, which includes electronic cadastral maps formed and maintained based on mapping data.

Previously, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia announced that state registrations of rights in the village of Kiran, Tavush Province, were conducted by the Cadastre Committee based on inaccurate data.
