Mirzoyan on Relations with CSTO Secretary General

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, stated that he has developed excellent personal relations with the Secretary General of the CSTO, Imangali Tasmagambetov. He made this announcement during a joint session of the permanent committees of the National Assembly of Armenia.

Mirzoyan commented on the CSTO Secretary General's statement regarding the expectation for Armenian authorities to clarify the future of their relations with the organization. “I have excellent personal relations with the CSTO Secretary General and I convey my position to him clearly,” said Mirzoyan.

It is noteworthy that on February 23, it became known that the Prime Minister of Armenia had stated in an interview with France24 that the Collective Security Treaty Organization had not fulfilled its obligations towards Armenia, and thus, Yerevan has frozen its participation in the organization. On March 12, Pashinyan did not rule out the possibility that Armenia could exit the Collective Security Treaty Organization if the CSTO fails to address Armenia's raised question regarding the territory of responsibility of the CSTO in Armenia.

The CSTO responded by stating that it considers the entire sovereign territory of the country to be within its responsibility.
