Serj Sargsyan Acquitted: Judge Releases Verdict
The Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan, presided over by Vahe Misakyan, has released the verdict in the case of the third President of Armenia, Serj Sargsyan, Barsgender Beglaryan, and former head of the Plant Growing Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Gevorg Harutyunyan.
According to the verdict, they were acquitted of the charges brought against them. The measures of restraint imposed on them have been lifted, and the civil claim was rejected.
It should be noted that there are three defendants in the criminal case. According to the indictment, at the organization of the third President of Armenia, Serj Sargsyan, and under the instigation of Barsgender Beglaryan, owner of Flash LLC, with the assistance of former Deputy Minister of Agriculture Samvel Galstyan and head of the Plant Growing Department Gevorg Harutyunyan, it is alleged that a significant sum of 489,160,310 Armenian drams, designated as a subsidy for the implementation of state support programs, was misappropriated from the government reserve fund for 15,391,765 liters of diesel fuel between January 25 and February 7, 2013, by former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan.
