Tense Situation: Police Negotiate with Suspect for Over 5 Hours While He Opens Fire
According to SHAMSHYAN, on May 27, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Armavir region, during which gunshots were fired.
That day, it was reported that 46-year-old Gor Vardanyan from the Armavir region was hiding in a designated house.
Police engaged in negotiations with Vardanyan for about 5 hours, attempting to persuade him to comply with their lawful demands, come out of the basement of the house, and accompany them to the Armavir police station.
During the 5-hour negotiations, Vardanyan fired several shots. Eventually, around 09:00 in the morning, the police managed to neutralize him and take him to the Armavir police station.
At the scene, a makeshift double-barreled shotgun designed for firing bullets was discovered. Forensic experts found 5.45 mm caliber bullets in its two barrels. Additionally, 11 bullets, a secret-locked knife, black adhesive tape, and other items were found in the pockets of a military uniform.
At the Armavir police station, Vardanyan claimed that all the items belonged to him, stating that he himself made the makeshift firearm-like object and the iron projectile for firing bullets from a shotgun and a gas pistol.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Armavir regional investigative department regarding the incident.
