Which Roads are Closed Due to the Debed River Flooding

The Emergency Service reports that there are closed roads within the territory of Armenia due to the flooding of the Debed River. The following roads are closed:

  • Vayk-Dilijan-Alaverdi-Karkop
  • Bagratashen-Ptghavan
  • The road leading to Haghartsin (one-way)

According to the Road Department fund, drivers are advised to avoid the M-6 while traveling to the Georgian border and instead take the alternative routes M-3 Margara-Vanadzor-Tashir-Armenian border and M-1 Yerevan-Gyumri-Armenian border.

Below are the closed routes and suggested alternative routes due to the current situation:

Closed Routes:

  1. Vanadzor – Alaverdi – Ayrium - Bagratashen
  2. Dilijan – Ijevan

Alternative Routes:

International Route to Georgia:
  1. “Gogavan near” – Tashir – Stepantsminda – Vanadzor – Yerevan
  2. “Bavra near” – Gyumri – Yerevan
Domestic Route in Armenia:
  1. Ayrium – Noyemberyan – Aigehovit – Tavush – Berd – Ttujur – Jambarak – Sevan-Yerevan

A partial collapse has occurred in the pedestrian segment of the bridge near the village of Getapnya in Ararat Province, resulting in the cessation of traffic on the bridge.

About Lars:

According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs Emergency Department of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Federation’s Southern Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
