We Must Prepare for War: Lukashenko

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated during his speech at the Belarusian Media Public Forum in Mogilev that he does not want war and is doing everything to prevent it, according to a correspondent from BELTA.

"I do not want any war. I am convinced that the overwhelming majority (of people - BELTA) in Belarus do not want a war," said the head of state. He emphasized that he constantly explains with clear examples how terrifying any war is. "Breaking lives and rotting in trenches is not something that any Belarusian wants. That is why I do not want war and I am doing everything to ensure it does not happen," the president stated.

According to Lukashenko, there is much discussion in the country about the current dangerous moment, various alarm signals, and the high likelihood of intense confrontation. He attributed this to the historical experience of the Great Patriotic War, the beginning of which, he noted, leaders failed to foresee in time. "For this reason, we cannot let our guard down. I always tell the military - we must prepare for this. That is why we are building defenses on our western border," the head of state clarified.

Considering the experience of the Brest Fortress, which was captured by the enemy at the very beginning of the war, Belarus is now constructing its defensive structures farther from the border so that our fighters can hold their positions as long as possible in the event of an attack.

"I am trying to convey through you (media representatives - BELTA) to the people what is happening now and respond accordingly. But that does not mean that Lukashenko is an 'aggressor,' as they scream and raise a hue and cry, especially in Poland, and wants war. I, more than millions of Belarusians, do not accept and do not want war," emphasized the leader of Belarus.
