Peskov: They Are Denying Their People an Understanding of the Dangers That May Await in the Future
The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, commented on U.S. President Joe Biden's statements regarding the role of the USSR in the fight against fascism. His words were conveyed by "Izvestia."
Peskov noted that a general trend is observed in the West. "Now, in addition to this dense historical ignorance, there are also attempts to transform knowledge about history, to distort knowledge about history, and to erase it, which pertains to the role of the Soviet Union and the Soviet people in saving the world from fascism. This is a general ignorance," Peskov stated.
He also pointed out that ignorance of history leads to misunderstandings of today's circumstances. In Peskov's view, Western politicians are "obviously depriving their people of an understanding of the future and the dangers that their nations may face in the future." Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, stated that Russia should create a coalition to combat global terrorism.
