Bagrat the Bishop Has Nothing in Armenia, Not Even a Home: "Zhoghovurd"
"Zhoghovurd" newspaper writes: "Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan does not own any property in Armenia. He resides in a dormitory. Since the first day of the movement initiated by the Bishop of Tavush, Bagrat, the government has mobilized all its resources to spread various false information towards the members of the movement, particularly against Bagrat the Bishop. They claimed, for instance, that the priest Bagrat Galstanyan has two sons who did not serve in the army, while he has no sons.
Recently, the ruling party spread information suggesting that Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan drives a Lexus LX 570, with a market value ranging from 40,000 to 65,000 dollars. In an interview with "Zhoghovurd," Lydia Mantashyan, the spokesperson for the Tavush Diocese, when asked what kind of car the Bishop drives and how he purchased it, stated: "It’s a 2008 model, not a new or fresh vehicle. Archbishop Bagrat, as the head of the Tavush Diocese, has consistently taken care of the soldiers stationed at the fronts and the military units. Even on New Year’s Eve, he regularly went up to the positions and military bases to celebrate with the soldiers. Several years ago, in 2017, when Bagrat Galstanyan went once again with Karo Arakelyan to congratulate the soldiers on Easter, afterward, Karo Arakelyan gifted a car to the Bishop."
Furthermore, according to information from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, Bagrat the Bishop does not own a house or any other real estate in Armenia at all. In a conversation with us, they mentioned from the Tavush Diocese that Bagrat has a designated residence at the Mother See where he lives; however, these days he is staying in a wagon house or a hotel in Yerevan."
