The inclusion of the Alma-Ata Declaration in the peace agreement is among the topics that will be discussed at the upcoming meeting in Almaty, led by the foreign ministers of the two countries. This was stated today, May 7, during a press conference by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"The Alma-Ata declaration is accepted as the fundamental principle for border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan by both countries. This is an irreversible fact, as it has been recorded at a high level by both countries. Regarding the actual process of demarcation, it is based on the last legal maps of the USSR. This is an important note," he said.

Pashinyan refrained from specifying which particular maps are being used and explained it as follows: "You know that we do not want to limit ourselves by naming specific maps, as it is important for us to express legal grounds aimed at ensuring the complete demarcation of the Republic of Armenia's borders. Accordingly, we also act in practice. We operate under this logic, using maps that reflect the boundaries existing between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the time of the collapse of the USSR."

He also spoke about the installation of border markers.
