Ministry of Internal Affairs Denies Rumors Spread in the Media
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied reports circulating in the media regarding claims that the central apparatus of the police has supposedly demanded lists of officers from regional divisions who do not shy away from using violence in their professional activities.
“We inform you that this information does not correspond to reality. The police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carries out and will continue to carry out functions exclusively assigned to it by law. The use of force is excluded as long as the action is peaceful in nature. We urge not to publish unverified information and not to unjustly target the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinate service, the Police,” said Narek Sargsyan, the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in response to a query from Armenpress.
One news outlet published that there are supposedly “reports that the central apparatus of the police has requested lists from regional divisions, specifically names and numbers of officers who have been noted for violent actions and do not shy away from using violence”
