We Are Ready to Unblock All Transport Infrastructures with Azerbaijan and Turkey: Mirzoyan

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed the issue of unblocking regional economic and transport routes. He stated, “The problem is that although our leaders have repeatedly reaffirmed the mutual recognition of territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, we see that our neighbors still show reluctance to make a clear and unequivocal reference to the Alma-Ata Declaration in the peace treaty draft. It is important to know that Armenia is not only ready but also interested in becoming part of international transit routes. That is why our government has initiated the 'Peace Crossroads' initiative. We believe that if this unblocking occurs, it will not only be beneficial for the countries of the region from an economic prosperity standpoint, but it will also become a significant factor in establishing peace in the region.

Thus, we are ready to unblock all regional transport infrastructures, primarily with Azerbaijan but also with Turkey, understanding that this project will help connect the East to the West and the North to the South. If realized, it will provide another interesting means of linking the Gulf countries to the Black Sea economic region. According to this concept, the unblocking must occur with full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries, but also in accordance with the principles of equality and reciprocity.
