Several EU Countries Plan to Recognize Palestinian Independence by End of May

Several European Union countries are planning to recognize Palestine as an independent state by the end of May. This was announced by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during a special session of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

At the same time, the head of European diplomacy did not specify which countries were involved.

Currently, Palestine has been recognized as an independent state by 140 of the 193 member countries of the United Nations. Among the European nations, Bulgaria, Hungary, Cyprus, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Sweden have recognized Palestine's independence.

Earlier, intentions to recognize Palestine were announced by the authorities of Ireland, Spain, Norway, and Slovenia.
