Voskepar May Remain an Enclave, Says Village Leader on Yesterday's Meeting
The administrative head of Voskepar, Ishkhan Aghbalyan, has not ruled out the possibility that their community may remain an enclave. He stated this during a conversation with journalists today.
Aghbalyan noted that during the meeting, it was evident that what was happening had been predetermined and there would be no new developments. He said, “Specifically regarding Voskepar, demining operations are already underway, and they will probably finish today. As for the other areas with disputed territories, we were told that they will be addressed later, including the enclave. They said that the issues should be resolved through a referendum, which will largely depend on Azerbaijan, whether they will want to conduct a referendum or not. The demarcation process will take place, and in the end, the questions regarding disputed territories will be resolved. In short, Voskepar will remain the enclave you envision.”
He emphasized that the residents of Voskepar have expressed their position and have withdrawn from the demarcation commission. Aghbalyan added that he will consult with the residents and will make their future actions public.
