Southern China is experiencing severe flooding. The intense rains are threatening the economic stability of the entire country.
The province of Guangdong, one of the most populated and wealthiest regions in China, has been hit the hardest. Continuous heavy rains and storms have triggered landslides in mountainous areas, and river levels have surpassed critical thresholds.
More than 127 million people are at risk. At least 1.16 million households have lost electricity, and thousands of schools have been closed.
